Free Legal Information for Youth-in-Foster Care

Ontario, Canada. Child, Youth and Family Services Act clearly states:

Section 3 of the Act

EVERY child and young person has a LEGAL RIGHT to express their own views freely and safely. To be treated with respect…and to be included in decisions made about them with their own views and given due weight according to AGE & MATURITY

EVERY child has the LEGAL RIGHT to be consulted on the services provided to them; to participate in the decisions about those services; and to be included in the outcome of the decision making process.
 
EVERY child has the LEGAL RIGHT to raise concerns OR recommend changes regarding their care, without fear of interference, coercion, descrimination or punishment…EVERY child is entitled to a response to their recommendations/concerns in language that the child can understand.
